Some relatives of the fallen soldiers have described Trump's remarks as inappropriate and politically motivated. Karie Fugett, widow of a Marine Corps member, criticized Trump for using the soldiers' deaths for political gain, stating it was a disgraceful stunt ahead of elections. Another family member, Kelly McHugh-Stewart, called for an end to the ongoing conflict in Iran, highlighting the lack of congressional approval for the war and its significant financial costs. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reported that the war has cost approximately $37.5 billion, with an additional request for $67 billion for ongoing operations. The reported death toll stands at 18, which some sources indicate is higher than official Pentagon figures. The White House has not yet responded to requests for comment.
