A recent Washington Post/Ipsos survey indicates that 65 percent of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump's various projects in Washington, D.C., which include the construction of a White House ballroom and a triumphal arch. Only 32 percent expressed approval, while 3 percent did not provide an opinion. Among those who disapproved, 38 percent reported feeling upset about the projects, while 27 percent were dissatisfied but not upset. Of those who approved, 19 percent were satisfied but not enthusiastic, and 12 percent were enthusiastic.
The survey also asked respondents about Trump's motivations for these projects. More than half, 51 percent, believe he has a different goal beyond beautifying Washington, while 26 percent think he aims to enhance the city's appearance. Among those who think he has a different goal, 42 percent suggested it is to glorify himself or leave a mark on U.S. history, and 22 percent speculated it may be for personal enrichment or corruption. The poll reflects a significant level of skepticism among the American public regarding the president's intentions and the value of his proposed projects.
