Concerns Raised Over Defense Secretary Hegseth's Dismissal of Military Officers

Two former officers reported being forced to retire early after questioning command decisions, citing fears of retaliation from the Pentagon. Over the past 18 months, Hegseth has reportedly dismissed more than two dozen senior military officers and blocked promotions for many others, which has drawn criticism from retired military personnel. Hegseth's actions have been referred to as a 'Pentagon purge,' with a memo issued in May 2025 directing a reduction in the number of flag and general officers.
