U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on July 17 that it conducted its seventh consecutive night of military strikes against Iran. CENTCOM stated that operations would continue under the direction of the Commander in Chief while enforcing a naval blockade of Iranian ports. Over 50,000 U.S. service members remain deployed in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump has dismissed the previous memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict, describing it as a test of Iran's intentions. He stated that agreements had been reached multiple times but claimed Iran had failed to adhere to them. Trump also announced on Truth Social that the U.S. was reinstating the Iranian blockade and referred to the U.S. as 'the guardian of the Hormuz Strait.'
