Ohio mother of 16 seeks reunification with children amid child endangerment charges

Elizabeth Siders, a 33-year-old mother from Ohio, has requested through her attorney to be reunited with her 16 children during her ongoing trial for child endangerment. She faces 16 counts of second-degree child endangerment alongside her husband, Gary Siders, Jr., and his parents. Siders is currently detained on a $300,000 bond, but her attorney, J. Thomas Stolly, has argued for her release under specific conditions, citing her lack of prior criminal history. A court filing indicates that Siders wishes to reunite with her children, acknowledging that this is unlikely without her presence in court. The other defendants, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders, have also been charged with the same offenses, and all four have been assigned a bond of $300,000. The children, whose ages range from 18 months to 18 years, have been removed from their home due to reported severe living conditions. Vinton County Prosecutor William Archer stated that the case is an intra-family situation and not related to human trafficking. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine expressed concern over the children's living conditions, while Attorney General Andy Wilson described the situation as the worst he has encountered in his career, noting that some children were in serious condition and required urgent medical attention.
