Armed Man Arrested at U.S. Capitol Barricade, Investigation Underway

An armed man was arrested on July 13, 2026, after driving to a security barricade outside the U.S. Capitol. U.S. Capitol Police reported that officers apprehended the individual at the North Barricade after discovering he was carrying a firearm, which is prohibited on Capitol Grounds. The area was temporarily closed as investigators processed the scene. Authorities have not yet identified the suspect or announced any charges. Police were observed removing items from a Ford Bronco parked in front of the barricade, which included water bottles and other belongings. A dog that had been inside the vehicle was safely removed and taken away in an SPCA vehicle. The North Barricade remains closed as the investigation continues.
