ICE Agents Involved in Fatal Shooting in Biddeford, Maine

On Monday morning, ICE agents shot and killed a person in Biddeford, Maine. Following the incident, agents cordoned off the area while state and federal investigators arrived. Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau confirmed the shooting in a Facebook post and indicated that the FBI is expected to take over the investigation. A neighbor reported hearing gunshots around 8 a.m. and noted a significant law enforcement presence at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed. This incident marks at least the 11th fatal shooting involving ICE or Border Patrol agents since the Trump administration began. Earlier this month, ICE agents fatally shot a Houston construction worker, which led to widespread protests. Fecteau criticized a previous ICE operation in Maine as indiscriminate and driven by quotas. A protest against ICE is scheduled for noon on Monday at Mechanics Park in Biddeford. ICE and the Department of Homeland Security have not yet commented on the incident.
