Illinois man charged in shooting of pregnant woman during road rage incident

An Illinois man, Anthony Lee-Armstrong, 19, has been arrested following an alleged shooting incident involving a pregnant woman in St. Louis on May 17. He faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree assault and armed criminal action. According to police, the incident began when the family of the pregnant woman reported that two vehicles nearly collided with them as they entered a parking lot. After following the vehicles to confront them, gunshots were fired when the family attempted to evade the suspects. The pregnant woman, who was 11 weeks along, suffered a gunshot wound to her back, while the male victim sustained shrapnel injuries. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the vehicles following the family’s car, and a license plate reader linked Lee-Armstrong to the Volkswagen involved in the incident. He was identified by the female victim in a lineup and is currently being held without bond.
