A body matching the description of missing South Carolina fitness trainer Elena Katherine Moore, 39, was discovered on Wednesday afternoon in Lexington, South Carolina. Moore was reported missing after last being seen on June 11, leaving a Planet Fitness gym. The Lexington Police Department stated that the body fits the clothing description of Moore.
Sondra Campbell, a close friend of Moore, reported that Moore expressed fear for her life during their last conversation on May 31. Campbell noted that Moore had requested to speak privately about her concerns. After missing a call from Moore on June 4, Campbell attempted to reach her without success.
Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green confirmed that the body was found following a tip that led investigators to a new search location. The body was reported to be wearing a green outfit similar to what Moore was seen wearing on security footage before her disappearance. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is currently working to determine the cause of death, and formal identification will be conducted by the coroner.
