The United States has finalized its 26-player roster for the upcoming World Cup, where it will serve as one of the host nations. Although U.S. Soccer is expected to make a formal announcement after Memorial Day, reports indicate that players such as Brenden Aaronson, Mark McKenzie, Matt Turner, and Sebastian Berhalter are likely to be included. Sebastian Berhalter is the son of former USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter, and Aaronson previously played for Team USA in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Gio Reyna is also expected to be part of the roster for Mauricio Pochettino's first World Cup as USMNT manager. Reyna, who faced challenges during the 2022 tournament due to behavioral issues, expressed his eagerness to represent the national team, stating, "I’m just hoping and waiting for the call-up, it would be an honor. The national team means a lot to me. … I’d love to be there, have an impact on the team. It would be a dream to represent my country at the World Cup."
Reports suggest that Diego Luna, a standout player for Real Salt Lake, did not make the final squad despite being a key member of the USMNT's rotation in 2025. Luna has scored four goals in 18 matches for the national team, along with 22 goals over the past three seasons with Real Salt Lake. Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake has also been informed he will not compete in the World Cup.
The USMNT is set to begin its World Cup campaign on June 12 against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
