Chicago Reports 25 Shootings Over Memorial Day Weekend; Police Cancel Days Off

The Chicago Police Department reported that at least 25 individuals were shot in the city over the Memorial Day weekend. Among the incidents, four teenagers were shot on the West Side early Sunday morning, with ages ranging from 14 to 18. The victims were hospitalized and are in good condition. No confirmed homicides occurred during the weekend. Additionally, a 33-year-old man was shot while driving in the North Austin neighborhood and is expected to survive. In response to the violence, police canceled officers' days off as part of a Summer Safety Strategy, with Superintendent Larry Snelling emphasizing the need for safety in the city.
