Senator Mitch McConnell Hospitalized for Health Issue

Senator Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, was hospitalized for an undisclosed health issue, as reported by his office. Communications Director David Popp stated that McConnell was admitted to the hospital on the morning of June 14, 2026, and is receiving excellent care. Neighbors reported seeing McConnell on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance outside his Washington, D.C. home around 9 a.m. ET. McConnell, who is 84 years old, has faced a series of health challenges in recent years, including a hospitalization earlier this year for flu-like symptoms and a concussion in March 2023. He announced in February that he would not seek reelection and plans to retire when his current term ends in January 2027. McConnell has served in the Senate since 1984 and was the Republican leader from 2007 until 2022.
