Ex-Marine Defends Against Armed Teen Robbery Attempt in Maryland

An ex-Marine defended himself against four armed teenage robbery suspects in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on Tuesday at approximately 5 p.m. The incident occurred while Jheyco Borda was working on his truck. Video footage shows the teens approaching Borda, with one demanding his keys, phone, and valuables while brandishing a handgun. After a brief standoff, Borda managed to subdue the teen by throwing him to the ground. Although the other suspects initially fled, one returned and attempted to reengage, only to be tackled by Borda's brother. During the struggle, the gun discharged and struck Borda's truck, but no injuries were reported. Prince George's County police later apprehended all four teens. Borda had received training in hand-to-hand combat through the Marine Corps. Additionally, D.C. Witness reported a rise in youth crime in the D.C. area, noting that the percentage of homicides and non-fatal shootings committed by individuals aged 15 to 20 nearly doubled from 2021 to June 2024.
