Katie Zacharia, 41, acknowledged her past involvement with a health supplement company that operated as a multi-level marketing (MLM) scheme. In an interview with WIRED, she described her role as an affiliate for Beachbody, where she promoted the 'Shakeology' product, which is marketed as a superfood nutrition shake. Zacharia stated that she stopped using the product due to concerns about its vitamin A content during her pregnancy.
Zacharia's resume has come under scrutiny, particularly following her claim of being an attorney despite not having passed the bar exam. Her appointment to a position within the president's inner circle surprised some, including Trump's chief of staff, Susie Wiles.
Zacharia moved to China in 2011 and returned to the U.S. in 2013. She has a significant gap in her professional history between 2013 and 2023, during which she was reportedly a stay-at-home mom from 2014 to 2020. She has four children with her husband, Tyler, and the family plans to relocate from California to Washington, D.C.
Beachbody, which rebranded to BODi in 2023, has faced legal challenges, including allegations of making misleading income promises to its distributors. The company confirmed that Zacharia was one of 300,000 independent distributors in 2013 but did not disclose the duration of her involvement.
Zacharia and the White House have not yet responded to requests for comment.
