A referee and a coach engaged in a physical altercation during a girls' flag football tournament in Revere, Massachusetts, on Saturday. Jeff Etienne, a referee with 20 years of experience, and an unnamed coach from the Massachusetts Outlaws team clashed after the coach expressed frustration over a call regarding blitzes that changed during the game, according to WCVB. Witnesses reported that the coach yelled at Etienne, who then pushed him, leading to an escalation of the situation. Parents intervened to separate the two, with one grandparent expressing outrage at the incident. The tournament, known as the Ghost Town Showdown, was held at Harry Della Russo Stadium, which is referred to as 'The Boneyard.' It featured girls' divisions starting from age six and under. It is unclear if either party sustained injuries during the incident. Etienne acknowledged his role in the escalation, stating, 'I do take responsibility.
