Police Investigate Incident Involving Masked Individuals in Delaware Neighborhood

Cameras in a Delaware neighborhood captured at least two masked individuals knocking on doors late Friday night, one of whom was reportedly carrying what appeared to be a rifle, according to the New Castle County Police Department. Images released by the police show a man wearing a tactical-style vest and holding an object resembling a rifle while approaching a home’s front door. Another image depicts a second individual approaching a front door, also wearing a black vest and mask. Police responded to the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive in Mallard Pointe, New Castle, around 10:50 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of suspicious activity. Residents reported that a man in a black hockey-style mask and tactical vest approached homes while carrying what appeared to be a rifle, knocking on doors before fleeing the scene. Authorities noted that four other individuals were seen heading eastbound on Mallard Road, with two on bicycles and two on foot. Officers, along with a K-9 unit, searched the neighborhood and nearby properties but were unable to locate the individuals. While police have not confirmed whether the weapons were real firearms, they indicated that they believe the weapons may have been airsoft-style guns. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident or home security footage from the area to contact 911 or the department’s non-emergency number at 302-573-2800.
