The Iran-backed Houthis conducted an attack against Saudi Arabia on Saturday, resulting in the death of an American citizen and over 300 injuries. The attack targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, where missiles struck two domestic flight terminals, leading to at least a dozen fatalities, according to civil aviation authorities.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, “The United States strongly condemns the recent attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the terrorist Houthis, including today’s strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that took numerous innocent lives, including an American citizen. These reprehensible attacks demonstrate a blatant disregard for innocent civilian life. They must stop now. We stand with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people and extend our condolences to the victims and their families.”

This incident is noted as the largest attack against a Gulf nation since the broader conflict with Iran began in February, as reported by the Associated Press, and it may influence the United States’s involvement in the regional conflict.

When asked about the possibility of U.S. military involvement in response to the attacks, President Donald Trump stated, “We may. We’re going to look at it. We just found out about the recent attack. So we’ll make a decision. We move very quickly.”

Trump also mentioned that he would discuss the situation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and confirmed that the U.S. is “in communication” with the Houthis. The strikes resulted in the deaths of four Saudi nationals and a Palestinian, along with citizens from Bangladesh, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Sudan. Major General Turki Al-Maki described the attacks as a war crime and indicated that the kingdom’s military would respond.

Additionally, Houthi forces were reported to have killed two individuals in an attack on Abha International Airport on Wednesday.
