Ella Langley canceled her sold-out concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, scheduled for Friday night, due to a "serious security threat." The decision was made approximately two hours before the concert was set to begin at the 19,000-seat BOK Center. In an Instagram post, Langley stated that the threat involved the safety of her fans, venue staff, and her team.
Captain Richard Meulenberg from the Tulsa Police Department reported that a call was received indicating that "great harm" would occur at the event, mentioning "shots fired and bombs." He noted that his team had conducted multiple checks of the venue prior to the show and found no credible threat.
Meulenberg emphasized that the individual who made the call disrupted the event for thousands of fans. Langley did not provide additional details but expressed her apologies to fans and mentioned that information regarding ticket refunds would be shared soon.
The BOK Center also released a statement prioritizing the safety and well-being of everyone involved, confirming that the show could not proceed after careful consideration. They acknowledged the disappointment this decision caused for fans.
In September, Langley's song "Choosin' Texas" became the longest-running number one single in US chart history, surpassing Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You." This success contributed to her recognition at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May.
