Journey drummer Deen Castronovo was hospitalized following a medical emergency during the band's concert in Oklahoma on Thursday night. Castronovo, 62, was assisted off the stage after the band completed their second song at Tulsa's BOK Center, as reported by Tulsa World. The group performed 'Be Good to Yourself' and 'Stone in Love' before the incident occurred. Keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressed the audience, stating, 'We’re going to see what happens as this progresses.' He added, 'It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re very sorry. We’re hoping it’s only a delay, but please — I’m sorry. Don’t worry. Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody. Thank you.' About ten minutes later, guitarist Neal Schon informed the audience that Castronovo had been taken to the hospital. Drum tech Steve Toomey took over for the remainder of the performance, which resumed approximately eight minutes later with 'Ask the Lonely.' Singer Arnel Pineda later provided an update, saying, 'He’s gonna be fine. Too much Gatorade,' according to Ultimate Classic Rock. Schon also expressed optimism, stating, 'This concert is for Deen. I think he’s going to be fine.' No additional information regarding Castronovo's condition has been released. Page Six has reached out to Journey's representative for comment. Journey is currently on its Final Frontier tour, featuring Castronovo, Schon, Cain, and Pineda, who joined the band in 2007 after replacing original frontman Steve Perry. The band is scheduled to perform next at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Castronovo has been with Journey since 1998, with a break from 2015 until his return in July 2021. His career includes work with Bad English and Hardline, as well as performances with Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai, Paul Rodgers, and Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath. Last year, Castronovo made headlines when a fire broke out beneath the stage during a Journey concert at NRG Stadium in Houston, which he later described on Instagram as an 'act of God.'
