Statue of Naked Donald Trump Displayed in European Parliament

A statue of US President Donald Trump was put on exhibit in the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, France. The 2.5-meter satirical statue, created by Danish artist Jens Galschiot, is titled "Orange Plague" and depicts the US leader naked, holding a long gold club while sitting on the shoulders of a smaller man. The statue is coated with 23-karat gold and is also referred to as "King of Injustice." Cards placed next to the statue explain that the "King of Injustice" is "sitting on the back of a man" who is sinking under the burden. The card states, "I would do anything to help him. Except stepping down from his back," attributing blame to Trump for obstructing efforts to address climate change. The statue is located at an intersection connecting two of the parliament's buildings and is scheduled to remain on display until Thursday. Per Clausen, a left-wing Danish member of the European Parliament who invited the artist, expressed that he is not concerned about any potential reaction from Trump, stating, "If someone is so thin-skinned that they cannot tolerate this sculpture being exhibited in the European Parliament, then they have no place on the world stage." The US president has not commented on the statue, which has previously been displayed in other European cities and at the COP30 UN climate conference in Belem, Brazil.
