Statue of Donald Trump Displayed in Strasbourg

A statue titled "The Orange Plague," created by Danish artist Jens Galschiot, is currently on display in the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, France. The statue, which stands at 2.5 meters tall and is coated with 23-karat gold, depicts US President Donald Trump sitting naked on the back of a smaller man while holding a long gold club. The artist has stated that the statue symbolizes Trump's hindrance of efforts to address climate change. Accompanying the statue are explanatory cards that describe the figure as the "King of Injustice" and mention that he is "sitting on the back of a man" who is struggling under the weight. The statue is positioned at an intersection connecting two of the parliament's buildings and is scheduled to remain on display until Thursday. Per Clausen, a left-wing Danish member of the European Parliament who invited the artist, expressed that he is not concerned about any potential reaction from Trump, stating, "If someone is so thin-skinned that they cannot tolerate this sculpture being exhibited in the European Parliament, then they have no place on the world stage." The statue has previously been displayed in other European cities and at the COP30 UN climate conference in Belem, Brazil. As of now, President Trump has not commented on the statue.
