A recent New York Times/Siena University poll indicated that Peltola had a seven-point lead, while a Quantus Insights poll showed a statistical tie.

During his speech, Vance stated that with Sullivan in office, “no more does the Pentagon kick Alaska to the curb.” He emphasized the strategic importance of Alaska, referencing Eielson Air Force Base, which is home to two squadrons of F-35s, as the heckler shouted from the audience.

Vance acknowledged the disturbance, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, we of course had to have one person who wants to ruin the party. But our message to him is: no, we’re not going to elect that far-left radical. We’re going to elect Dan Sullivan.”

The heckler's specific comments were not clearly audible, but a White House pool report noted that he yelled insults about both Vance and Trump, including the term “pervert.” A video captured the heckler, described as a gray-haired man wearing a blue “Alaska” hat and a shirt with a controversial slogan. His identity remains unknown.

Protestor removed from the VP’s rally this evening: pic.twitter.com/MmGgGn0xwS
— Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) October 6, 2026

Footage from Alaska’s News Source showed the man being escorted out while yelling, “stay out of my couch,” referencing a viral meme from 2024 that falsely alleged Vance described a sexual encounter with a couch cushion.

Vance’s office did not respond to a request for comment. He has faced hecklers before; during a prior event in Florida, he referred to one as a “clown” and a “Democrat plant.”

In his speech, Vance accused Democrats of attempting to “steal” an election, stating, “My friends, the Democrats are obsessed with this state this cycle. AOC and Kamala Harris and the rest of them, they see the last frontier as their last, best hope to take America in a far-left direction, to impeach Donald Trump, to turn off the energy projects that we’re building all across this state, and to throttle this state and this country’s incredible progress.”

Read more at The Daily Beast.
