President Donald Trump referred to South Carolina Democrat Annie Andrews, who is running against Senator Darline Graham Nordone (R-SC), using the nickname "Trannie" in an effort to discredit her.

Trump posted on Truth Social, "Annie 'Trannie' Andrews is running against our wonderful Darline Graham for the Senate in South Carolina. For years my dear friend Lindsey would say that, 'Darline is the finest, most reliable, and one of the smartest people I have ever known.' He would then always add, 'Also, the most loyal!' Oftentimes I would be upset with Lindsey for saying this, because I thought I had all of those qualities."

He continued, "In any event, Darline is a High Quality person, maybe the Highest, and Annie Trannie is not, in particular, as it pertains to representing the Values of the Great People of South Carolina. She is in favor of Transgender for Everyone, Open Borders, Defunding the Police, High Taxes, a Weak Military, and will absolutely fight to take your guns away."

The president's comments appear to target Andrews, a biological woman, regarding her alleged support for gender transitions for minors and transgender athletes in women’s sports. Graham Nordone’s campaign launched a website called “Dr. Annie’s Waiting Room” that critiques Andrews on these issues, despite Andrews publicly stating that she opposes transgender surgeries for children and transgender athletes in women’s sports.

In a recent interview, Andrews declined to define a woman, stating, "Honestly, I don’t even want to entertain that question with an answer. I have a medical degree and a master’s degree and clinical research. We can have a conversation about the difference between sex chromosomes and gender identity, and I just don’t think that there’s a place for that conversation … in a U.S. Senate race."

Andrews and Graham Nordone are scheduled to debate on October 11, where it is anticipated that Graham Nordone will attempt to link Andrews to transgender issues and other progressive ideologies.

Trump stated, "Trannie is not for South Carolina, and South Carolina must show, in the upcoming Election, that it is not for her."

Graham Nordone is defending her seat in the midterm elections after succeeding her late brother, Senator Lindsey Graham, who passed away in July. The race is expected to be competitive, with recent polls indicating Graham Nordone has a slight lead over Andrews.

Shortly after Graham’s death, Trump endorsed Graham Nordone for a full six-year term, and she announced her candidacy shortly thereafter.

In addition to Trump, other members of his administration have recently used the term “trannie.” In a recent address, War Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that “no trannies” are welcome in the U.S. military, emphasizing a shift away from what he described as a “Woke Department.”
