The actress, known for her role in "Will & Grace," has endorsed Republican Bruce Blakeman in the New York governor’s race, moving away from her previous support for Democratic candidates.</p><p>Messing previously supported Democratic candidates such as Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Cynthia Nixon in 2018. Her endorsement of Blakeman marks a significant political shift.</p><p>In a video shared on Instagram, Messing praised Blakeman’s campaign, stating, "Oh gosh, I am so grateful that you are running. You are what we need more than anything." She highlighted her concerns about the decline of the city over the past four years, mentioning economic and social issues, and noted that many people are leaving New York City.</p><p>Messing's support for Blakeman is based on her worries about the city's direction and the financial pressures residents face. She stated, "I was born here. This is the city I love and it's not the city that I love anymore and I believe with all my heart that you are the answer." She emphasized affordability, stating that living in New York City has become too expensive.</p><p>Blakeman, who currently serves as Nassau County executive, is the Republican nominee for governor of New York in the upcoming election. His campaign focuses on issues such as affordability, taxes, crime, and immigration, challenging the incumbent Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul.</p>
