The family of Jeffrey Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide in 2025, alleges that the office of Rep. Jeff Crank (R-CO) dismissed a request to meet regarding a bill aimed at releasing Epstein files. Giuffre’s brother and sister-in-law, Sky and Amanda Roberts, featured in an advertisement for Crank’s Democratic opponent, Jessica Killin, criticizing Crank for allegedly protecting former President Donald Trump. In the ad, the Roberts family claims Crank was 'covering up Epstein’s crimes to protect Donald Trump.' Sky Roberts stated, 'Jeff Crank covered up Epstein’s crimes to protect Donald Trump. He has no business being in Congress.'
On Monday, the Roberts family held a press conference with Killin, where they recounted an incident where Crank's staff laughed at their request to meet. They reported that after an initial meeting, the office ceased communication despite several follow-up attempts. Text messages obtained by the Washington Examiner show a staff member responding with a 'haha' when the Roberts provided their availability.
'We went to Capitol Hill and pushed for the Epstein Files Transparency Act,' Sky Roberts said. 'Then we came home to Colorado Springs and asked our own Congressman Jeff Crank to stand with us. We met with his staff, and they promised to follow up. We got silence. When we brought the petition to his office, they locked the doors.'
The meeting with Crank’s staff took place in September while the congressman was in Washington, D.C. for a session. Last year, the Roberts stood outside Crank’s office urging him to support the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Although Crank voted for the legislation after receiving Trump's endorsement, he did not join four House Republicans who supported a discharge petition to force a vote on the bill.
'Let’s be clear: Jeff Crank did not have the courage to do the right thing until he got permission from Donald Trump,' Killin stated at the press conference.
Sky Roberts indicated that this issue is not partisan, expressing support for Killin because she 'chose to listen.'
Crank’s campaign responded to the Washington Examiner's request for comment, stating, 'It is deeply unfortunate that Washington Lobbyist Jessica Killin is preying on a grieving family with the help of the Washington Democrats.' The campaign emphasized that Crank voted to release the Epstein files in the House of Representatives and criticized Killin's statements as intentionally vague.
The office also mentioned receiving an email from an anti-human trafficking group thanking Crank for his support after the Epstein files bill passed.
Killin, a veteran and former chief of staff to Douglas Emhoff, is running against Crank in the upcoming November elections for a seat that Trump won by nine points in 2024. The district, which includes Colorado Springs, was noted as the fastest-trending Democratic seat following the 2024 election, according to the Cook Political Report.
The accusations and advertisement are part of a broader political context surrounding the Epstein files, with nearly 70 ads mentioning Epstein aired this election cycle, totaling over $36 million. The Epstein Files Transparency Act passed the House with a vote of 427-1 after presidential support, despite prior resistance.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) introduced a discharge petition for the Epstein Files Transparency Act II last month, aiming to address ongoing issues with withheld materials and allowing legal action for non-release of records. The petition is nearing a majority of signatures to force a vote.
Giuffre, a prominent survivor of Epstein's abuse, died by suicide in April 2025, shortly before the release of her book, Nobody’s Girl, which detailed her experiences. She reached a settlement with Epstein in 2009, dropping her lawsuit in exchange for $500,000 and other considerations.
