<p>A young bear injured two people outside their home in a small town in Idaho on Friday, according to authorities.</p><p>The incident occurred around 3:30 AM in the Sunset Heights subdivision near Salmon, Idaho, which has a population of just over 3,000.</p><p>One of the victims was transported by helicopter to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, as reported by Idaho Fish and Game.</p><p>Idaho Fish and Game was notified by the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office and mobilized the Wildlife Human Attack Response Team to secure the scene.</p><p>Authorities later located the bear, its sibling, and what was believed to be their mother, using a professional houndsman to track them, and euthanized all three.</p><p>The sheriff's office provided advice on preventing bear encounters, stating that residents should remove outdoor food smells, secure potential entry points, and use deterrents around their properties.</p><p>They recommended securing food and trash, locking up garbage, cleaning outdoor grills, removing bird feeders and outdoor pet food, managing fruit trees, blocking entry points, keeping windows and doors shut, and using deterrent mats.</p><p>The individuals were attacked while on their porch, as reported by KTVB-TV.</p><p>In a related incident in July, a jogger with his dog was attacked by a bear in a state park in Fremont County, southeast of Lemhi County. The jogger was able to walk out on his own, and his dog was unharmed. The bear involved in that incident was not found.</p>
