He made this comment during the second day of Pride Month, accompanied by a reference to "Happy Nuclear Family Month." Ogles has previously made statements regarding the LGBT community and has introduced legislation aimed at restricting gender transitions and other related services.
In addition to his comments on homosexuality, Ogles has called for an investigation by the Federal Communications Commission into the Super Bowl halftime show, which he compared to "gay pornography." The Washington Examiner reached out to Ogles's office for clarification on whether his comment indicated a forthcoming anti-LGBT policy.
Earlier in the year, Ogles proposed a bill to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to restrict immigration from predominantly Muslim-majority countries, coinciding with his previous social media posts expressing anti-Muslim sentiments. He stated, "Muslims don’t belong in American society" in March 2026, following a bombing attempt linked to ISIS sympathizers in New York City.
Ogles's recent comments may be a response to a court ruling regarding transgender military service, where a three-judge panel found the Trump administration's policy deeming individuals with gender dysphoria unfit for military service to be unlawful. The administration is expected to appeal this decision.
Former New York Republican Rep. George Santos, who is openly gay, criticized Ogles's remarks, expressing disappointment that a friend would suggest there is no place for him in the country based on his sexual orientation.
