Ruby Rose discusses being accused of involvement in child's death after playground accident

Ruby Rose recounted an incident from her teenage years during a podcast interview where she was accused of being involved in the death of a four-year-old boy following a playground accident. In the interview on the Off the Vine podcast with Kaitlyn Bristowe, Rose, now 40, described the event as traumatic. At the age of 15, she was at a family gathering in bushland when she discovered the injured boy. Rose initially mistook the child for a doll on the playground slide. Upon realizing it was a real child, she reported that there was blood coming from his ear, nose, and mouth. She carried the child inside, where adults began performing CPR until an ambulance arrived. Although the boy was still breathing when he was taken to the hospital, he later became brain dead and was removed from life support. Following the incident, police questioned Rose at her high school, where she faced accusations from peers. The boy's older brother, who witnessed the incident, later recovered his memories and informed the police that the death was accidental, which led to Rose being cleared of any wrongdoing. However, she noted that the child's mother did not want her to attend the funeral. Rose later pursued an acting career, gaining fame in films such as Pitch Perfect 3 and John Wick: Chapter 2, but took a step back from the spotlight after suffering a spinal injury on the set of Batwoman.
