Suspect in Pittsburgh pediatrician's murder also accused of earlier sexual assault

<p>Elijah Hemingway, 32, is accused of killing a Pittsburgh pediatrician and critically injuring his wife during a home invasion. He allegedly sexually assaulted a separate woman in public just hours before the homicide, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.</p><p>The alleged sexual assault occurred Wednesday morning as the victim was walking along a path in Wilkinsburg. Authorities reported that Hemingway stole the victim's cell phone during the incident, and the victim did not know him prior to the assault.</p><p>Wilkinsburg police notified Allegheny County detectives, who investigated the sexual assault alongside the homicide case. Detectives recovered multiple items linking Hemingway to the reported sexual assault, including the victim's stolen cell phone.</p><p>Following a consultation with the district attorney's office, additional charges were filed against Hemingway, including rape, sexual assault, and robbery.</p><p>The home invasion occurred early Thursday morning in Edgewood, Pennsylvania, where Hemingway allegedly entered a home and stabbed Dr. Idris Evans, 46, who was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.
