The case revealed a history of infidelity, with Flynn having an affair with 24-year-old Alleigha Botner, whom he met in 2022. Prosecutors presented over 100,000 text messages between Flynn and Botner, including one where he expressed his desire for his wife to be dead. Flynn's defense argued that while he was an unfaithful husband, there was insufficient evidence to prove he committed murder, highlighting the absence of the murder weapon and direct proof linking him to the crime. Sentencing for Flynn is scheduled for October 5.
