Estonia Accuses Russia of Arson Attack on Defense Company

The Estonian government has accused Russia of conducting an "act of sabotage" related to an arson attack on August 15 against the defense company Milrem Robotics in Tallinn. Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that an investigation concluded that the attack was ordered by Russian special services. Following the accusation, NATO and EU leaders expressed support for Estonia. Tsahkna noted that the perpetrators had been arrested and that Russia's ambassador had been summoned. NATO chief Mark Rutte condemned Russia's actions, stating they were part of a broader campaign against NATO allies. The Kremlin dismissed Estonia's claims as "baseless". Three suspects were detained in Latvia and later handed over to Estonia. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and other European leaders reiterated their support for Estonia and Ukraine, emphasizing that such actions would not deter their resolve. French President Emmanuel Macron described the incident as a "dangerous escalation" by Russia. Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys and Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics also commented on the need for increased support for Ukraine in light of the attack.
