Florida Counties Declare State of Emergency Due to Dengue Fever Outbreak

<p>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 392 cases of dengue fever in Florida for the year to date, along with various county-level data.</p><p>Several counties in Florida have declared a state of local emergency in response to an increase in dengue fever infections. Hillsborough County officials made the declaration on September 24, following the confirmation of 134 cases of dengue fever, a mosquito-borne illness typically found in regions outside the United States. Officials stated that the spread of the illness poses an immediate and widespread threat to the public health, safety, and welfare of residents and visitors in Hillsborough County.</p>
