This game marked Daboll's first matchup against the Giants since his dismissal midway through the 2025 season. The Titans struggled offensively, not scoring until 5:35 remained in the game when Ward connected with Wan’Dale Robinson for a touchdown. They had difficulty gaining momentum, nearly going the entire first half without a first down.
During the final drive, the Titans reached the Giants’ 7-yard line with a chance to tie the game but failed to capitalize when Ward chose to throw instead of running the ball himself. Giants player Cam Skattebo commented on the game, stating, "A year ago, we lose that game, 100 percent. This year, we were able to pull through."
Leading up to the game, Daboll had attempted to minimize the significance of facing his former team, emphasizing the need to focus on preparing the players.
