Jets lose to Lions 31-24 in closely contested game

The New York Jets lost to the Detroit Lions 31-24 on Sunday at Ford Field. Earlier in the game, the Jets had taken a 7-3 lead with a touchdown pass from Smith to rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq. The Lions led 10-7 at halftime after a touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Amon-Ra St. Brown. The Jets had opportunities to score but were hindered by penalties and a strong Lions defense throughout the match.
