Oregon coach Dan Lanning made remarks following his team's 41-27 victory over USC at the Coliseum on Saturday night. After his quarterback was injured during a play he described as a "disgusting play," Lanning commented on the atmosphere and culture surrounding USC football. "Three wins against these guys," Lanning stated, referencing his team's success against USC's coach Lincoln Riley. He added, "If you’re interested in winning football games, you’re from this area, you should go to Oregon. If you want to go to a Chris Brown concert, you should go here," referring to the concert that took place nearby the night before.
Lanning also addressed the attendance at the game, noting that the sellout crowd of 75,500 was a season high for USC, which had previously faced criticism for low attendance in earlier games. "I’ve watched three of their TV games," Lanning said. "I haven’t seen a game packed yet, but we were here. It was packed tonight. So I guess when the Ducks show up, right, that’s how you fill up the Coliseum."
Backup quarterback Dylan Raiola played well in the final minutes after starter Dante Moore was taken from the field in an ambulance following a hit from USC linebacker Desman Stephens II, who was ejected for targeting. Lanning expressed concern over the play, stating, "It’s a disgusting play. You don’t want to see it happen. It’s disappointing that it happened out there." He mentioned that Moore had regained some movement but refrained from discussing potential further punishment for Stephens, saying, "I’ll let our conference handle what that looks like. I’ll let coach Riley handle what that looks like for their team."
