Kai Trump begins collegiate golf career at Miami with wrist injury

Kai Trump has started her collegiate golf career at the University of Miami with a wrist injury sustained during her first tournament. The 19-year-old golfer injured her wrist at the Golfweek Fall Challenge earlier this month when she struck hidden concrete beneath the surface while attempting a swing. Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump, shared details about the injury in an Instagram video. She described the moment, stating, "Let’s just say there must have been some cart path underneath that ground because it was very hard. Hit it, it felt like a shock on my arm." The injury worsened during a swing with her driver, leading her to say, "Then on the tenth hole, I hit my driver, and I felt like I tore it again." However, tests revealed that the injury was not severe, with doctors finding a "little sliver" of damage along her ligaments. To expedite her recovery, Kai Trump is receiving stem cell injections from Dr. Jeffrey Weigers, a pain management specialist. The injury impacted her performance at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where she finished tied for 102nd in a 120-player competition with a score of 10-over 81. This injury coincides with a transitional period in her life as she moves away from family and friends in Jupiter, Florida, to start college. In recent YouTube videos, Trump expressed her feelings of homesickness, stating, "I’m not a very emotional person at all, so this is like really weird for me to cry, I’ve only cried a few times. I think knowing that I have to say goodbye to everyone tonight really, really sucks." Trump now has time to recover before the University of Miami competes at the Ruth Chris Tar Heel Invitational at the UNC Finley Golf Course.
