Craig Carton criticizes Pablo Torre for linking Tim Tebow to Life Surge allegations

<p>Craig Carton criticized investigative reporter Pablo Torre for his focus on Tim Tebow in a recent report regarding Life Surge. Torre alleged that the Christian-focused organization used Tebow as part of a business model that pressured individuals to invest significant amounts of money without a return.</p><p>Carton acknowledged Torre as a "brilliant investigative reporter" but took issue with the implication that Tebow was aware of the organization's alleged misconduct. Carton stated, "Tim Tebow doesn't deserve to be dragged into this unless you got him nailed. And if you don't have him nailed to the cross on this story, you have defamed him. And if I'm Tim Tebow, I find that to be actionable. I find that to be regrettable," during a recent episode of OutKick’s "The Craig Carton Show."</p><p>Tebow has since announced that he is "pausing" his relationship with Life Surge, stating, "I think the allegations are extremely, extremely serious, and it’s something that we take very serious. And so, for us, we’re having our team do an investigation, but also pausing our relationship until we can learn more about the facts to be able to understand more," as reported by The Gainesville Sun.</p><p>According to Mother Jones, which collaborated with Torre on the investigation, Tebow spoke at 20 Life Surge events between 2024 and 2025 and was scheduled to speak at about as many events in 2026. Carton did not dispute Torre’s investigation but criticized him for allegedly using Tebow’s name to advance his own career.</p><p>Carton remarked, "You’re using Tim Tebow’s name and popularity to further your own career. You’re using Tim Tebow to get attention for your story. Whether that story is accurate or not, I’ll take the leap of faith that you’ve reported as an allegation about this Life Surge company that it might even be accurate and factual, and we need to get involved. We need to get district attorneys involved and do a thorough, real investigation to see if they’re committing some type of predatory fraud against honest, God-fearing, blue-collar people who might be losing their life savings under the guise of religion."</p><p>He added, "That would be awful if that's happening. But how dare you sully the name and reputation of a man who has only done things for others? A man that has dedicated his life to service of his Lord."</p><p>Carton further criticized Torre for placing Tebow in a difficult position without establishing that the Florida Gators legend was aware of or involved in the alleged misconduct. He argued that the report forced Tebow to issue a statement and harmed his public image, stating, "When you go down that road and you sully the reputation of somebody who's dedicated his entire life to service, that is a slippery slope that I want no part of."</p><p>Carton concluded, "So, you better have this locked down, Pablo, and maybe you do, but to throw out an allegation, attach a dude's name to it? Shame on you."</p>
