Jamar Goff, 23, the adopted son of Ree Drummond, was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and throwing her dog against a wall in May 2025, prior to his recent arrest on drug and assault charges. According to legal documents obtained by Page Six, a protective order was issued against Goff in Alabama after the woman, who has not been named, alleged a series of violent incidents during their relationship.
In her petition for a protective order filed on May 28, 2025, the woman claimed Goff had displayed aggression while living at her apartment without paying rent. She alleged that he punched a hole in her wall and flipped her couch while she and her dog were on it. The woman stated, "He grabbed me by the neck and pushed me down onto the couch and held me there until I could not breathe." She also accused Goff of throwing her dog against a wall and making threats while she was on the phone with her sister.
The protective order, which required Goff to maintain a distance of at least 500 feet from the woman and her frequented locations, was granted by a judge and remained in effect for one year, expiring in May 2026.
In the same month, Goff was detained for allegedly biting a correctional officer's hand.
This was not the first instance of Goff facing allegations of threatening a partner. In 2022, another woman in Oklahoma sought an emergency protective order against him, claiming he made violent threats following their breakup. A judge ordered Goff to stay at least 100 yards away from her, and that order expired in August 2024.
Goff's recent legal issues came to light after his arrest on September 15, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama. Police found him sleeping shirtless near a fountain on the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus after receiving a report of a suspicious person. Goff allegedly stated he was waiting to buy methamphetamine before fleeing when police discovered an outstanding felony warrant for failure to appear. He reportedly struck a UAB police officer before being subdued.
Goff has been charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia, with a bond set at $37,000. He is currently in Jefferson County Jail with no scheduled release or court date. Ree Drummond, 57, and her husband, Ladd Drummond, became Goff's foster parents in 2018. The Food Network star has not publicly commented on his legal issues.
