Trump Announces Two Upcoming Meetings with Xi Jinping

<p>President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have confirmed plans to meet two more times before the end of the year following Xi's recent state visit to the United States.</p> <p>Trump stated on Truth Social on Friday, "President Xi and Madam Peng have just left D.C., heading for China. The meeting was one of Friendship, Strength, and Success, for both China and the U.S.A. We will be meeting again in November, in China, and then at the G20 in December, in Miami, Florida. Much has been, and will be, accomplished. I look forward to our next meeting!"</p> <p>The November meeting is expected to occur on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders’ Meeting and CEO summit, which will be held in Shenzhen, China.</p> <p>Xi's state visit, his second since being hosted by former President Barack Obama in 2015, lasted three days. It included Trump greeting Xi at Joint Base Andrews, a welcome ceremony featuring a military review in the White House’s Rose Garden, and opening remarks in the Grand Foyer, followed by hours of meetings, a tour of the new helipad on the South Lawn, and a state dinner on Thursday night.</p> <p>On Friday, the schedule included a tea and a tour of the National Archives, where Trump showed Xi the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.</p> <p>Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump and Xi’s wife Peng Liyuan, told reporters in the National Archives’ rotunda that he and Xi “had a great meeting.” He added, “Great for the farmers, great for everybody.”</p>
