An attendee informed Abdelhadi that their nephew had begun door-knocking for El-Sayed's campaign but felt uneasy about El-Sayed's self-identification as a capitalist. Abdelhadi responded positively to the attendee's comments and echoed their sentiment. El-Sayed has previously rejected the socialist label during his campaign, stating in an interview, 'I’m not a socialist, I’m just a capitalist who understands how capitalism works.' He emphasized the need for government regulation of monopolies to provide more choices and fairer pricing for consumers. El-Sayed supports policies such as Medicare for All and has called for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). His campaign has received endorsements from figures like Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rep. Rashida Tlaib. El-Sayed has also clarified that he is not affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
