Philippines national pleads guilty to illegal voting in 2024 election in Pennsylvania

<p>Evelyn Miller, a 37-year-old woman from Emmaus, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty on September 16 to illegally voting in the 2024 election, according to federal prosecutors. Miller, who is a lawful permanent resident but not a U.S. citizen, registered to vote online on October 9, 2024, less than a month before casting her ballot in the general election on November 5.</p><p>The investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) began after authorities received information suggesting that someone in Lehigh County may have illegally registered to vote or cast a ballot. HSI and FBI agents interviewed Miller at her home in July 2025, during which she confirmed that she registered online and voted in person on Election Day.</p><p>Miller received her lawful permanent resident status on July 19, 2024, during the Biden administration. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated, "This alien from the Philippines pleaded guilty to illegally voting in the 2024 election in Pennsylvania. Thanks to the hard work of the men and women of HSI, as well as our partners at the Department of Justice, this alien will soon face justice for her efforts to subvert our elections. American elections are for Americans only." HSI conducted the investigation in collaboration with the FBI.</p><p>Miller's case is part of a broader effort by the Justice Department to address election-related cases stemming from the 2024 election. On September 18, federal prosecutors announced that 16 individuals had been charged in separate cases involving illegal voting and related election crimes across multiple states. Miller is scheduled to be sentenced on December 16 and faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison, one year of supervised release, and a $100,000 fine.</p>
