California and New York sue Trump administration over wind energy lease buybacks

<p>Democratic attorneys general from California and New York have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration regarding its plans to buy back offshore wind leases. The administration's actions are seen as an effort to discourage the expansion of wind energy in favor of fossil fuels.</p><p>California Attorney General Rob Bonta stated that the lawsuit addresses the removal of a wind energy project off the coast of California, which was planned by Chicago-based Invenergy. In June, the Trump administration announced its intention to buy back the company’s US offshore wind leases for four wind projects located on the east and west coasts.</p>
