Unlicensed Practitioner Charged with Homicide Following Death of Woman from Injection

Luis Rojas Cabrera, a 55-year-old unlicensed spa operator in Riverdale, has been charged with homicide after the death of 27-year-old Elizabeth Baron, who received an injection of NAD+ at his Bereshit Lifestyle Center. The incident occurred in July, leading to Baron's cardiac arrest and subsequent death, according to the NYPD. Rojas Cabrera, who is not licensed to practice medicine in the United States but holds a license in the Dominican Republic, was initially charged with reckless endangerment and unauthorized practice of a profession during his arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court on July 20. He has two prior arrests, including one for attempting to bring medical supplies into the country. Following the results of Baron's autopsy, the charges against him were upgraded to homicide. Authorities indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming.
