Body of Woman Found in Trash Can at Brooklyn Beach

A woman's body was discovered inside a trash can in the parking lot of Plumb Beach in Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD) and various reports. Police responded to a 911 call around 3 p.m. and found the woman unconscious and unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The identity of the woman has not yet been released. Her body was located in a trash can on a peninsula near Sheepshead Bay, across the Rockaway Inlet from Breezy Point. Investigators were seen examining the trash can while collecting evidence. The body, covered with a white sheet, was removed from the scene by the medical examiner's office later that night. The parking lot is often used by visitors to Plumb Beach, which is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area and is popular among windsurfers and kiteboarders. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, and as of Wednesday night, no arrests have been made.
