Kamala Harris to Campaign with Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan

Former Vice President Kamala Harris will campaign with Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan next week as part of a midterm tour aimed at helping Democrats secure competitive seats in Congress. Harris, who endorsed El-Sayed following his narrow primary victory last month, will participate in a campaign roundtable focused on the disparities Black mothers face during and after pregnancy. Recent polling indicates that El-Sayed is in a close race against Republican opponent Mike Rogers, as Democrats seek to gain four Senate seats nationwide to achieve a majority in the chamber. Eduardo Negrón, a spokesperson for Harris, stated, "Vice President Harris looks forward to returning to Michigan to help turn out the vote in this critical state. It is critical we flip the Senate so we can bring down prices and stand up to Donald Trump’s corruption." El-Sayed is facing significant outside spending and has been a frequent target for Republicans aiming to retain control of Congress after November. Vice President JD Vance recently described him as "evil," while Rogers and other Republicans have labeled El-Sayed an "extremist" with ties to terrorist groups. Harris’ visit to Michigan is part of a nationwide tour that includes campaigning with Democrats in her home state of California and Georgia, and marks the first public appearance of Harris and El-Sayed together since her endorsement.
