Marianne and Chad had been together since they were teenagers and had three children.</p><p>Following her husband's death, Flippo states in her lawsuit that she needed to travel to Italy for medication that was in short supply due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. She suffers from vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic disorder affecting connective tissues.</p><p>Flippo claims she was apprehensive about traveling alone and paid Starr $27,000 to accompany her after a recommendation from a friend. Although she intended to end their relationship after the trip, she alleges that the agency's owner encouraged her to reconnect with Starr.</p><p>Eventually, Starr convinced Flippo to pay him $450,000 for exclusivity. According to the lawsuit, he later claimed he could only leave the agency if she paid $10 million to buy out his contracts, which she agreed to.</p><p>Flippo states in the lawsuit that she was not in a sound state of mind due to her grief and the effects of medication, and that she signed Starr's exit agreement while under the influence of alcohol and painkillers, without legal counsel.</p><p>When JPMorgan Chase flagged her $10 million wire transfer as potential fraud, Starr allegedly persuaded her to open a joint account with him, where she transferred approximately $5.95 million.
