J.K. Rowling’s Agent Responds to Lilly Wachowski's Accusations

<p>J.K. Rowling's agent, Neil Blair, responded to Lilly Wachowski after the co-creator of "The Matrix" accused the "Harry Potter" author of causing "trans genocide" and compared her to the Nazis.</p><p>Wachowski, who identifies as transgender, made the accusations during an interview with <a href="https://variety.com/2026/film/features/lilly-wachowski-jk-rowling-harry-potter-trans-the-matrix-1236858104/">Variety</a>, discussing Hollywood's reluctance to finance “cool and queer trans stories” and the upcoming HBO adaptation of Rowling's books.</p><p>In the interview, when Variety described Rowling and Tesla CEO Elon Musk as having inflicted "an enormous amount of cultural damage on the trans community," Wachowski stated, "These people are Nazis. They’re literal Nazis." Wachowski also expressed the need for countries to combat hate speech and shut down platforms that promote it.</p><p>When discussing the new “Harry Potter” television series, Wachowski accused Rowling of using proceeds from the franchise to support legislation targeting transgender individuals. "She is funding trans genocide," Wachowski claimed. "If you support ‘Harry Potter,’ you’re supporting trans genocide."</p><p>Wachowski elaborated that a portion of the money spent on Rowling's products contributes to anti-trans legislation globally. She compared boycotting "Harry Potter" to refusing to purchase a Tesla due to objections to Musk or reducing gasoline consumption for climate change concerns, stating, "It’s simple math. Your enjoyment of these shows, and continued support of these shows, is supporting my eradication."</p><p>Blair rejected the allegations made by Wachowski. He stated, "Freedom of speech is a principle we should all cherish. What matters is that J.K. Rowling’s views, as with anyone else’s, are represented accurately, fairly and respectfully, and that individual opinion does not detract from those views."</p><p>Blair noted that the J.K. Rowling Women’s Fund supports women pursuing legal action in the United Kingdom to preserve sex-based protections under the Equality Act 2010. He concluded that defamatory allegations invoking the Nazis and genocide should not be presented as fact when they lack evidence.</p>
