Fox News Leads Cable Ratings During Trump's Midterm Speech

<p>Fox News surpassed its cable news competitors in overall viewership during President Donald Trump's speech at the Republican midterm convention's opening night on Wednesday.</p> <p>The network averaged 2.5 million total viewers and 229,000 viewers in the 25-54 age demographic during the nearly two-hour speech, according to preliminary cable ratings from Nielsen Media Research. The viewership peaked at 2.8 million total viewers at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.</p> <p>During primetime, Fox News attracted 2.3 million total viewers and 212,000 viewers in the 25-54 age group. In the 9 p.m. hour, the network captured 65% of the cable news share.</p> <p>In comparison, other networks did not exceed 2 million viewers. CNN recorded approximately 489,000 viewers between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., while MS NOW reached a peak of about 1.1 million viewers during the same hour. These figures represented the highest view counts for those channels.</p> <p>Fox News's ratings also exceeded its viewership from the entire month of August, with overall viewers and those aged 25 to 54 being 22% lower than the figures recorded between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday.</p> <p>Trump is scheduled to deliver the closing remarks of the midterm convention for 15 minutes, starting around 9:37 p.m. Thursday, following Vice President JD Vance's speech.</p>
