<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>DALLAS —</strong> Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) stated on Wednesday that first-term Senator Dave McCormick (R-PA) could be a viable candidate for the GOP presidential nomination in 2028.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jordan made these remarks during an interview with the <em>Washington Examiner</em> at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Texas. He was specifically asked about Senator Ted Cruz's (R-TX) potential White House run, to which Jordan responded, "I think he’s definitely going to run," before mentioning other possible candidates. "I think, you know, there’s been all kinds of talk about Secretary Rubio, who’s done a tremendous job. The vice president, I think, is going to run. I think Gov. Youngkin’s probably looking at it." He added, "I actually, I think Sen. McCormick could be a good person as well. I mean we got all kinds of good folks. Any of those individuals would be, I think, tremendous."</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jordan also expressed that the GOP has numerous candidates who would be "a zillion times better than" any potential Democratic nominee in 2028.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">McCormick’s team did not respond to a request for comment from the <em>Washington Examiner</em> before press time. The Pennsylvania Republican was first elected to the Senate in 2024, defeating long-time Democratic Senator Bob Casey. A former private equity executive, McCormick is married to Meta President Dina Powell McCormick.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Pennsylvania is considered a critical state for Republicans in the 2028 election, having played a significant role in Trump's Electoral College victories in 2016 and 2024.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jordan’s fellow Ohio resident, Vice President JD Vance, is viewed as a leading candidate for the GOP nomination in 2028.</p>
