Bank of America Executive Erin Guiltinan Piacenti Laid to Rest Following Fatal Stabbing in Times Square

<p>MENDHAM BOROUGH, N.J. — Erin Guiltinan Piacenti, a 32-year-old executive at Bank of America, was laid to rest on Wednesday following her death from a stabbing incident in New York City's Times Square. Hundreds of mourners attended the wake over the past two days to pay their respects.</p><p>Piacenti, who had recently returned from maternity leave after the birth of her first child, was attacked on August 31. Police reported that a woman with a history of mental illness stabbed her and another bystander on Seventh Avenue.</p><p>She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Fordham University School of Law, according to her family's death announcement. Piacenti was the music director of UPenn's Dischord A Cappella group and met her husband, Frank Piacenti, at law school. They married in 2024 and welcomed their daughter, Madison, in March.</p><p>Prior to her role at Bank of America, Piacenti worked at the Manhattan-based law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell. The day before her death, she and her husband returned from a vacation celebrating their two-year anniversary.</p><p>As of Tuesday, a GoFundMe campaign for her daughter had raised nearly $1 million. The family is requesting donations to the campaign in lieu of flowers.</p><p>On August 31, Piacenti was stabbed in the abdomen, an injury that proved fatal, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, also stabbed a 68-year-old man shortly before attacking Piacenti. The man survived and was hospitalized in stable condition.</p><p>At a news briefing, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed his condolences and thanked the NYPD officers who intervened during the incident. A routine investigation into the officers' conduct will be conducted, and bodycam footage will be released.</p><p>Part of the standoff with police was captured on video, showing Cisneros holding two kitchen knives and refusing to comply with police orders to drop the weapons. Officers attempted to subdue her with stun guns, which were ineffective, leading to them opening fire.</p><p>Cisneros was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital. Tisch stated that Cisneros had a documented history of mental health issues but no prior arrests.</p><p>“Tonight, our thoughts are, of course, with the victims of this attack and their families,” Tisch said during a press conference following the incident.</p>
